im having so many problems with my tank come all at once it was perfectly fine this time two weeks ago!

ive just noticed some of my fish have like a which see through patch on them it looks like exma? its more noticeable on my black mollies but some of my red platties and it. and ive noticed some of the fish are rubbing themselfs against the decor in the tank.
and one of them now has lost half a fin(nipped off i presume)

does anyone have any idea of what this is without a picture? i have no access to a camera for the time being!

Looks like a bacterial infection and the fin could be fin rot.

Go to your LFS and get some antioniotic medicine, like Myaxin. Should clear up. Just be sure to preform lots of water changes to keep the ammonia down and keep the water clean for recovering fish.

Yes, it could be an ammonia burn. Are you state side or in the UK?

it doesnt look like ammonia burn. just googled it and thats black. this is white like fine fine almost see through cotton wool.

Cotton wool describes fungus. You will need to get an anti-fungal medication.

could it be from nipping? some of my females are pregnant and are being quite nippy recently.

Fungus usually attacks damaged areas of tissue, so yeah.

I really can't as I don't know brand names in the UK, or even what's legal there. If Tetra has the fizzy tabs, the one for fungus works great.

well i know its a fungul infection so im guna go to the LFS and have a look at what theyve got.

That's the best option.

Staccato, check out ESHA products on line or via e-bay as I personally find these are the best & can generally be used in conjunction with other ESHA products when needed unlike other products.
However any LFS will have done form of product to help you.
