What Is This?

One of my male apistogramma cacatuoides has got this weird big white spot on his face; I've been trying to get a picture for ages but he's been hiding and that.

Anyway, if anyone knows what this is please let me know. I don't want all my other fish to get it. Link below:

Might be an infection, either fungal or bacterial... but being a cichlid i would worry that it was the start of 'hole in the head' disease.

No real definate cause but cichlids seem prone to it, the cases i have seen have nearly always been because of water quality (whether too high a pH or ammonia, nitrite or nitrate) or wrong diet, usually too much protein IME).

Would chance with treating with ESHA Hexamita (HITH treatment) maybe?

Thanks MBOU, I've had a look at that and I'm not too sure. It doesn't seem to be a hole it protrudes from the fishes face. It was a bit of a bad picture anyway, I just snapped a couple more:

Ahhh thats much clearer, def not hole in the head then!

More likely a fungal infection....

I think, if it was me, I would be tempted to catch the fish out and run my nail gently down the fish and over the bump/see if it comes off...

And treat the tank with something aimed and fungus/bacteria. I always use Myxazin as its pretty much malachite, acriflavin and formaldehyde, base treatments used in most of the other treatments and seems to work a treat.
