I have not encounter this before in any of my fish. One day when I was looking into the tank my Red Minor Tetra has weird white scales on top of his head and also a spot on his body. I tried to research it because I was afraid that it might be cotton mouth... but when looking and comparing it does not look to be it.

The fish is swimming around like normal and does not seem to be bothered by it. he has only gone a bit paler then the rest. There is nothing on the other fish and or plants. The tank has been set up for over a year and a bit. All the other fish are healthy and nothing seems to be the matter. But the other day one of my red minor tetras did die, but he had a curved spin so that could have been the reason. I just found him floating at the top and then flushed him.

sorry for the blurry pictures.... was taken with my phone :S

this is the site.. its on photobucket

thanks so much.. really want to know what this is.

It is hard to tell on my screen, but could it be ich? If you have a look at some pictures online and compare, you might be able to tell.

oh never thought that it could be ick... hmm well then now that i compare it.. does look like ick... i shall start to treat it.. thanks just need another opinion to make sure i'm not treating for something that isn't it.

It does look sort of like ick, it looks almost like he has salt on him.
For some reason Neon tetra disease is coming to mind too so I would google that if I were you and just compare to see if it looks like that. Neon Tetra disease can occurr in other types of fish...
(I'm not saying it is Neon tetra disease, it just pooped into my head when I saw the pictures, but there's just as much of a chance that it could be ick, but few people have a camera that can capture a fish in perfect focus)

I guess it's pretty important to decide which it is, because if it is ich you need to treat the entire tank and if it is NTD you need to take the sick one out. I hope it's ich! That's pretty easy to treat.

i've treated him for ich and he has gotten better.. woot :)
