I was trying to describe it before, and I cannot remember it's name. So can any of you please identify it for me. I think it might be the reason some of my neons and other fish are dying. :grr:

he's a blue ram and not usually too agresive.

although being a cihclid i doubt it can resist a neon or 2!!

Looks like a german blue ram to me. They are quite nice community fish and get along with most community fish, if not all of them. They do good in pairs or two females and one male.

They aren't very hardy though. I couldn't seem to keep any of mine alive for more than 5 months.

:p I've kept mine with neons and he never tried to eat them. But they did "hunt" my molly fry. Never caught one though.

Looks like a blue ram. Generally a nice community fish, best kept in pairs.

Two females and one male? Not unless you want the newly formed male/female pair to kill off the other female :/

They're best kept in pairs and while territorial, I doubt they are the cause of your neon death. Neons are VERY common tankmates for rams. Even in a 10g with 2 rams and 5 neons (too small, I know this now!), my rams never pestered my neons in the slightest.

I've kept mine with 2 females and he never bothered them. They all got along nicely. :dunno:

it is very possible to keep a male with 2 females if they are put in at the same time...adding another female after a pair has been established can lead to problems....

however, if you do add 2 females and a male initially...if two pair off, the other female will be forced away one way or another most likely

my cichlid beats up the piranhas... that is unless jack needs to put her back in line, but gill gets a shooing daily.

my piranhas are quite gentle though unless pushed over the edge, then they just get nasty.

the firemouth had one bite on the nose, as a warning, she respects jack now, but as I say Gill still gets beats but shes only small.

thing is with cichlids are theyre a bit like an annoying friend, whos very public, loud, and does something out of innocence that makes you roll your eyes. they get into all sorts of trouble because theyre so confident, purple ronnie is always nicking food from under jacks nose, its quite amusing to watch 'daddy' get fooled :D
