My mother in law bought the kids this fish and she had no clue what it is. Can someone help me figure it out so I can give him the proper environment?

Yes; it's widow or skirt tetra, Gymnocorymbus ternetzi.

It does look like a dyed one, from that pic, although it could just be an albino.

Be aware that widow tetras are very, very nippy fish if not kept in a large enough shoal.

I looked that up and it looks kind of the same. But this one is two toned pinkish. More of a coral color. If it is the widow tetra, will it be ok in a 10 gallon with danios? I currently have 2 danios but will probably get a few more.

The fish needs its own kind or else it will get nippy, so i would look toward finding a new home for it. Also i am guessing you have danio rerio, if so in the long term the danios are fast fish and would ideally need a bigger tank to have sufficient room to swim

A rosy tetra is far from looking like that :D

Definitely dyed. Here that is available in purple, green, light pink and fuchsia colors.
