What Is This Fish?

I've recently adopted some fish from a friend. She only had 6 fish left and was gradually winding down her collection. Most of the fish she gave me I can identify but this one I'm not so sure. I want to be sure it will be ok in my big tank with the guppies and tetras.
From the pictures I have seen I think it most resembles a platy but I'm not so sure. She said they had bought it from their lfs so its unlikely to be anything rare.

Appologies for the photos but my camera isnt the best for taking pics of things that move!

Thanks so much! I've just been looking up all the info on golden barbs now. Seems he will be very happy with the other fish in my tank

My gold barbs are quite happy in my community tank but they are a bit nippy. You may find the guppies with their long fins might not appreciate that.
