I was wondering what the average weight of an empty 240 gallon 72"x31"x24" Glass aquarium. Im not sure what the glass thickness is but if someone knows what theres is. I really need to know.

I would guess around 70-100 lbs (I'm guessing I'm terribly wrong) A 72x31x24 tank would have about 53 square feet of glass, and I'm just guessing that glass weighs around 2 pounds a square food (maybe less). Plus with the metal frame, maybe is weighs a little over 100.

im guessing about 150lbs because thicker glass would have to be used to make it strong enough to support the weight
I forgot to consider how much thicker the glass would be.
In any case, you would need a couple people to help you move it .

My All-Glass catalog lists a 210 gallon as weighing 394 lbs. empty, 2450 lbs full. It is a 29" tall tank, requiring a thicker glass than your tank. Taller tanks need thicker glass A 25" tall 180 gallon weighs 338 lbs empty. That should give you a decent ballpark weight.

Hope you have a few strong friends. I would go with at least 4 people total, 2 pizzas, & a case of beer.

my husband and son in law moved my new 210 in about 2 weeks ago, they were not happy. it really does weigh almost 400 empty. i would suggest 4 strong men to move one. hubby says if we ever move he is leaving it here. :/

I also advise at least 4 strong men to carry in a tank that size, my 205g which is built with 12mm glass and a doubled up 24mm base took 6 people to carry it from the shop to the van and then a huge struggle with 4 people to get it up the stairs into our flat, when we move i'm going to cut the silicone and take the tank down sheet by sheet and then rebuild it at the other end.
