I have a breeding pair (proven apparently) of German Rams in a quarantine tank and I thought it best to get my backside in gear and get whatever would be needed on the off chance that they do spawn. It`s just my luck that they`d spawn and I wouldn`t be prepared for it

I`m contemplating getting another 3 or 4 females to add to the 1 male in my community tank and the pair that are currently in the quarantine tank, especially as I have the RO unit up and running now and I`d quite like to see if I could possibly breed the Rams in the hope I`d have some success with them.

I`m fully accepting that I have some reading to do but wondered what the experiences of members are in relation to fry food they may have used? What is the best/most suitable? :look:

Micro worms are really good; ste12000 does starter cultures in his ebay shop. Decapsulated brine shrimp eggs are useful to have around, but I'd go for the worms if you can cope with them.

Here's the worm culture; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MICROWORM-STARTER-CULTURE-EASY-TO-KEEP-LIVE-FOOD_W0QQitemZ300474118476QQihZ020QQcategoryZ20759QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Thanks flutter :good:

I have seen the starter kit before in Steves` shop, just wasn`t sure if it was something I could do or not

I guess it can`t hurt to try and it`s something that the other fish like as well apparently, the Dario would probably like it as it`s smaller food for them?

I think all fish like micro worms; and they're really not hard to keep. Just start up new cultures before the old ones go off ;) There certainly are a brilliant food for fry.

Newly hatched brine shrimp are a good starter food for fry or liquifry. Start an infusora culture off, that's an ideal food for fry as well.

Yeah micro worms are great and easy to culture, but the dam smell,
I grew up three batchs of my snakeheads purely on the deshelled brineshrimp eggs, Love the stuff and cheap as chips, and as said having it around incase another spawn appears is very handy, no messy work or smells, perfect for me, who forgot about one culture of worms in the cuboard, imagine finding tha two months after, i was   for ages

Ewwwww, not nice!!   Not sure I`ll cope with it but I`ll give it a go

I`ve ordered the starter kit from ste1200 along with some red crumb granular fry food and decapsulated brine shrimp, hopefully that would be enough to raise any possible fry adequately.
The reason I asked for advice tonight is because of the way the Rams have been acting, it kind of got me wondering. The females belly has gone very pink this evening and she`s chasing the male for all she`s worth.....he`s playing hard to get for a while then he`ll start chasing her. I`ve also noticed they both seem to be cleaning the top of the clay flowerpot and big stone that`s in the tank sooooooo ........ :hey: :hey:

I`d rather be prepared, just in case :D
