Today on EBay I found a lighting unit made by Pro Aqua that takes 4 x 36 watts PL lamps. It says it is splash proof so I am guessing it must be for a fish tank. It is 3ft long and has adjustable legs. The starting bid is $90 and I am seriously considering buying it. I did email the guy asking for more info on the lamps but he basically repeated what was in the link here

I am just unsure about the PL lamp thing.Like what K is it and all? I did a google search and not enough info came up.

If anyone knows anything about these, please reply. The auction ends in just under 6 hours (making it midnight)

TIA

PL are a type of Compact Fluorescent lamps. There are a few different types of CF's, each type requiring a different base/connector and starter, (ballast or electronic). PL's thus, are just a different type of CF, they are not better or worse then others. You cannot put a PL lamp in a normal incandescent bulb holder, (screw or bayonet).
