So what is my tank trying to tell me ?? (Well one of my tanks anyway........) It's a 180 ltr Jewel Rio, has a medium stock level, some plants, the lamp is on a timer and not on for too long, has a temp of about 66 deg C, and for the first time ever I'm overrun with black angel hair algie.
I'd rather try to control this by "natural" means rather than chemical, water tests reveal fairly high Nitrate, but I do regular 25 ltr water changes to keep it in check. I've still got the carbon filter in and one of the nitrate absorbing foams, which I change every couple of months for what it's worth.
So what to do ?? Should I keep on manually clearing the stuff and doing the water changes, or should I move the fish to one of my other tanks temporarily and clean the hell out of the tank ?? Or introduce a suitable fish ?? Or snails ?? Or something else ?? Once your got the algie is it there for good, or can it be "erradicated" ??
Any help appreciated.
Phil.
