What Is In Flourish Excel?

I believe Flourish Excel used to advertise that it was an anti-algae treatment, but for some legal reason they are now unable to make that claim? Maybe I'm wrong, but my question is still unanswered No ingredients are listed on the bottle, nor on the website, and I am curious what this organic carbon stuff actually is and why it affects algae?

If I'm not mistaken, they intend it primarily as a carbon source, not an anti-algae. I can't remember exactly why I inhibits algae, though plantbrain has posted quite a few articles on it.
