Fish Crazy
Just lateley im having big issues trying to keep my water clear.
I have loads of little bits of debrie floating around in the tank and no amount of water changes seems to be helping.
I have a 260L tank, stocking as per my sig and filtered by a Fluval U4 and FX5. The FX5 on its own should be more than sufficient (and has been for over a year until the last month or so).
I havent had any problems before and always had totally clear water, but now all these tiny little bits are floating about and I dont know where they are coming from.
Every week for the past three weeks I have cleaned out the filter housing, cleaned the media, made sure the sand has all the surface debrie syphoned off and done 90% water changes. The filters are working...I can see the fx5 intake taking the stuff in and yet it never clears up.
I have tried re-scaping my rocks in case it was a problem with flow, but to no avail, and like I said I can see it being sucked into the intake of the fx5 anyway. I have a polishing pad in the fx5 in the bottom tray.
I am at a total loss! I did a big water change today and it made no difference, despite all this crap going out with the water I syphoned off.
Could it be anything to do with the sand / crushed coral substrate? Its really agitating me now.
