I started my aquarium 3 months ago. I have 10 gallon tank with several plants. Originally I had 6 Neons, 1 Betta, and two Corys. I had never heard of cycling my tank so unfortunately I cycled with fish already in it. I lost several neons and both corys. I waited another month, slowly added fish to the tank, until I was back up to 6 neons and 2 Clown loaches (with the intention of giving the clown loaches to a friend when they got too big). Everything was fine for three weeks, my tests were all reading perfect. Until last week when I woke up to find my betta was dead, I took water samples and did a quick water changed. My nitrates were a little high but not extreme. I waited a few days and replaced the bette with two Dwarf Gouramis, in the last two days I have lost both my Loaches, and two more neons. and my nitrites are still high. I also noticed that there is now Ich in the tank. I did a 50% water change, used the gravel vac to get absolutely everywhere and treated with Rid-Ich, and brought the temp up to 80 degrees. Am I doing something wrong? or am I just having extremely bad luck? What do I need to do to get this under control. Currently I have 2 Dwarf Gouramis, and 4 Neon Tetras. Not planning on adding anymore to the tank.

Any advice is appreciated.

Hello,

Welcome to the forum.
What are the water parameters?
I think your tank may still cycling if you have Nitrates and nitrites, how often do you change the water? and also how much?

Wise idea not adding anymore to the tank. We need to get things under control first, with the help of everyone here you'll get there.
