I have a 100L tank currently holding 2 female Jewels and a BN.
I was first thinking about taking a Jewel back and changing it for a male. However.. after thinking about it i was wondering whether it would be best to breed convicts in the tank instead. I can adjust all the water stats to meet each fish requirements so that is not a problem.

What would you think is best?
Convicts or Jewels?

Thanks!

I would stay with jewels. They fetch more money when selling them, and your water is good for them. Adjusting your water for a fish isnt good. As your water can suddenly jump back up and kill the fish. Besides, convicts are as tough as nails.

Jewels are the better option if this is your choice of selection, but neither is really a challenge to breed (I've separated my Convict males & females to stop them from breeding, cause there's no real market for them - as Kribbi suggests) I'll take both jewels back and exchange for Rams or Kribs - having a 100l available with flexible conditions. Although a lot less fry, at least they'll be more in demand and a bit more challenging (accomplishment) to breed.

well, I have got a pair of krib already. so maybe i will move them into there. At the minute they are in my 120L tank with neon rainbows.
what water stats will i need to breed them successfully?

They will breed ing regular tank water, besides, as i said before, not a good idea to change ph, and things like that. Usually ends up in DISASTER.

My pH is always stable but, its at 7.8.. thats a bit high for breeding krib isn't it? I'v heard it effects the male:female ratio of fry and a neutral pH7 will ctreate a fairer ratio
