What Is A 'heathly' Diet For My Fish?

Hi,

Im just wondering, what is a 'healthy' diet? I dont believe in feeding for 6 days an not feeding for 1 day. I was doing this, and my uncle said, why only feed for 6 days a week . . . how would you like it not getting fed on a sunday? and, well, i wouldnt; So since then i feed once a day.

What should i be feeding though? I dont really have access to a pet shop where i live so i need to buy online. And from the UK.

What my fish are currently getting each day is . . . Aquirium Tropical Fish Flakes, Some Garlic flakes and some pellets. Just a small ammount of each scrunched up so the small fish can eat it too!

I have 6 neon tetras, 6 glowlighs, 2 blackwidows, 1 silver shark, 6 gouramis.

I occassionally feed some frozed daphnia and maybe some frozen bloodworm, not often though. I found some live bloodworm in my goldwater tank that could have only come from the frozen stuff.

try foods just being flake? what do you mean by live food? where can i get some?

dry foods can be flake or pellets
Live foods can be frozen Eg. Frozen bloodworm or indeed live. Eg live Daphnia

Ive heard feeding live worms to fish is bad as they can eat their way out of their stomach? What would you recommend i get from this guy? Also, how long would this live food last?

Hi. Live food is fine if fed in suitable quantities. IMO 1/2 a week.
Actual live food will only last 2 days, whereas frozen live food will last months.

I would look into getting Frozen Brineshrimp and Bloodworm. If this seller doesnt have any, try searching "frozen brineshrimp" etc. These are the most nutritous. They come in blister packets, so you can just pop them out one at a time, as and when you need them. To defrost them, pop 1 cube into a container. Just put a little drop of tank water in it, and leave it for about10 minutes. Then feed it to fish. (Either by popping it all into the tank, or picking out the food one by one.

You could also just pop the whole frozen cube into the tank, and this will get the fish excited and more active. Although it can be a bit harmful as the difference in temperatures etc.
