A marineland 5 gal tank. I don't know if you would call it acrylic or plastic but it is not glass. My daughter just bought this for her beta and we want to put a heater in it but don't know if we can because it not glass? Thank you, Jaime

A heater should be fine in there.
I have clear plastic tubs that I use as back up tanks, all with heaters in them and they are fine.
Just make sure the heater glass isn't touching the sides or bottom of the tank :good:

We have the Eclipse 5.5 gallon tank (it's their older style) and it's basically the same tank as what you have. This is the heater we use: http://www.amazon.com/Hydor-THEO-Submersible-Aquarium-Heater/dp/B0006JLPG8
Actually, we have the 50W (so I can use it in my 12 gallon tank when I have it set up) but it does run a little warm in my 6 gallon, so I do suggest getting the 25W. Works fantastic- and I've had it for like 5 years!

A 25W heater should be fine, as said above, just make sure it isn't touching the sides or bottom of the tank
