Guys

Went to get some Parrots Feather out for Beechey and found them like this. they were resting on the leaves of plants. I have never seen a Danio rest Ever.

Have not had any ill fish in such a long time.
These are outdoors in a Barrell, heavily planted with Parrots Feather And Silk Plants and Mosses'.
The only thing I have done in the last few days was move around some of the silk plants.
I realise they have developed Popeye, but why have the heads/fins on one of them turned black.
The Guppies are fine and swimming around as normal, just the danios seem to be affected. would have thought guppies woulf keel over if something was to go wrong in the Barrell.
Also their Eyes are normally and Icey Blue.

I have some IAL - would that help with the Popeye. I Have not had the need to stock meds for over a year since using IAL and Spirulina, so would need to know what to get.

Barrell Info:
Size: 40 Gallons
Inhabitants: Danios, Guppies and Snails and Daphnia
Temp: Stays cool as in the shade
Readings: None never done them on any tanks
Water Change: Every couple of Weeks 10-20%

Myxazin perfect for treating popeye - also doesnt kill shrimp/snails or beneficial bacteria - treats lots of other problems too

blackness can be a sign of ammonia burn - so i would do a large water change hun - i know you have the daphnia in there too but you'll just have to lose a few - 75% change then add the myxazin treatment

Thanks for the info.
Just reading up, I think i may have caused ammonia Burning by disturbing the Mulm on the very bottom of the Barrel (3Feet Deep).

Don't worry, I have more than enough Daphnia to restart the barrell again.
Gonna go do a water change and add som IAL.

oops - never mind hun - one of those things - they should soon heal up though myxazin works well

good job you got more daphnia :) good luck

Ordered some myxazin, and should be here soon.

Oh well, Guess i will loose most of the eggs and fry in there

I've used myaxzin in with betta fry and eggs before - and not lost any
used it as male had fungus tip on nose show up on day of spawning - think he had something anyway and female was a bit over keen with his face - anyway treated him in the spawning tank so he could still tend to the eggs and fry - treated him full dose while he was in the tank for 5 days - he was all healed and still had 30 fry from that batch with no apparent deformities or anything

they are now 6 weeks old and growing very well - so dont overly worry about the myaxzin - the amonia spike might have wiped a few out but the treatment shouldnt kill them - if it dont kill betta fry

good luck Gill :)

thanks pip.

lost three today when i went to check on them, meds should arrive in the morning and will treat the remaining ones.

Sadly None of them have survived, all their eyes were bulging and had turned white.
Will not be making that mistake again, Hopefully will be able to replace them if anymore like them pop up on the lists again.

The Barrell has been Disenfectated and Refilled and reseeded with Dahpnia and Added Spirulina to feed them and boost numbers.
