got a small tank on the build for my little lad (60 L ) , we have had it set up for about 2 month now and in about 4 weeks we will be looking at putting some fish in there. at the moment there are only 3 hermit crabs and one true Mexican turbo snail. there is also a good mix of softys and one or two LPS. i tryed to keep on the coral side for the first 3 or so month. so it is now comming to the time to add some fish. the mix was

1*Firefish (Nemateleotris magnifica)
1*Multibanded Pipefish (Doryrhamphus multiannulatus)
1*Catalina Goby (Lythrypnus dalli)
1*Royal Gramma Basslet (Gramma loreto)
1*Pistol Shrimp (Alpheus sp) or pos a fire shrimp (Lysmata debelius)

so what do you all think, i know that the Catalina goby would be a long shot as they like the colder temps, but i think i would be able to get away with it.

so what do you all think , many thanks rob

also i have a good understanding of the salty side and these would not all be added at once, it would be over a very long time, many thanks again.

Do not think you can get away with pushing the temperature limits; this always ends badly. Keep a similiar tropical species; many of the Elactinus (Gobiosoma) and Trimma species resemble Catalina gobies.

Four fish is a bit of a stretch for a 60 litre but assuming you have a good skimmer/phosphate remover/refugium it should be no problem; unless you add the royal gramma other than last.

"unless you add the royal gramma other than last."

sorry about this ,but does the above mean add the royal Gamma frist . i have a good amount of cheto and buble alge growing in my tank quik pic for you :good:

Rob, I was meaning to ask you what the red stuff is in the right hand corner? Is it a macro algae or a type of coral?

its a macro mate , red bubble algae (Botryocladia sp), had it in my big tank as well but the tangs took a liking to it :(. nothing like the green stuff grows very slow but looks very nice. the next macro i am tring to get hold of is shaving brush plant http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Di...cfm?pCatId=1478 think a few of them in the tank would look very nice.

hope that helps Rob :good:

Thanks mate. I think it looks really nice. I might have to see what they have at the LFS. :good:

how many gal is 60 liters? Sorry about the dumb question...
on the fish....
Firefish
Pipefish
and Royal gramma are good...
but might want to choose another kind of Goby since the Catalina goby comes from colder water... and i would imagine you would keep your temp in the high 70s .. the catalina prefers it in the low 70s .. and their are other gobys that are just as cool as the catalina that would fit better with your other tankmates requirements? just a thought?
on the shrimp...
id go with the fire shrimp... i have one and man.. really stands it with the bright red .....
i have 3 pistols(tiger, japanese, randalli) in my tank... and i hardly see them.. theyre always under a rock.... While i see my fire shrimp everyday.. and doesnt bother corals like my two cleaners do. THey always take the food i put on them but not the fireshrimp. hope i helped some.

yea think that is the way i will go.

think i wanted the Catalina as i live in dana point just across from the island its self. abit selfish i now but what you going to do LOL. think i will go with some othere goby though .

many thanks ROB
