Ok, so I'm still new to owning fish. Going to the fish shop is great looking at all these awesome fish but I don't really know what fish go well together.

Currently I have a 70 litre tank with 1 angelfish, 1 fire eel, 1 guppy and 1 doctor fish + snails

Now I have gone out and gotten a 125 litre tank as I keep reading that the the angelfish and the fire eel needs more space. Plus angelfish has started to become more aggressive with the guppies (I use to have more than 1!).

The fish are still in the 70 litre tank at the moment. I want to get more fish as it looks pretty empty right now. Question is what fish can I get?

Also, is having guppies with angelfish not a good idea? It's a shame if it is as they are quite pretty (I tend to like the pretty fish being a girl :p ).

Any advise would be great :)

dont fire eels get massive? i do know what you mean about colours and being girly, i have a strict rule for my tank no black or plain orange or any fish that is just one colour, no snakeskin type guppys, and deffinatly NO spongebob ornaments :grr:

i have heard angelfish can be tempermental with guppies and other fan finned fish, my centre piece fish is a betta, gets along nicely with all my other 'colourful' fish

According to their entry in the species index, fire eels do indeed get huge at around 20 to 24 inches. They need a tank of around 180 gallons (675 litres) as adults. You'll be looking at a 6ft x 2ft x 2ft tank for the eel.

The angelfish would probably also be better in a tank bigger than 125 litres. My largest tank is a 125 litre Juwel Rio and I wouldn't keep an angelfish in there. Yours would be OK for a while in the new tank, provided it is tall enough to give 45cm water depth after you've put the substrate in.
