Hey im getting a 24gallon tank (90 liters) for my birth day i was wondering what i should put in it that is kind of cheap and hardy. The tanks measurements are 620cm long (about 31inches) 39 wide (about 20 inches) and 45cm high (about 22inches) what would you guys suggest. i want some weed and some apple snails. it has a built in filter.

What would you guys reccomend i am willing to spend up to $250-$300 (100-150 pounds)

All help appreciated
PS i live in Australia will this affect my decisions and will i be able to get apple snails.

I wouldn't put in danios and a dwarf gourami together, the danios are totally hyper and the dwarfs can get easily stressed. If you want the gourami look, a honey or a thick-lipped gourami might be a better bet anyway, as the dwarfs are quite frail these days and often carry disease. I would either go for a honey gourami (or a trio- 1 male, 2 females) or a school of dwarf danios (nigrofasciatus) if you can find them. I would then add a school of 6 corydoras and 3-4 female platies.

I would also get Danios and Dwarf Gouramis they don't get to large and are cheap. You could also get Guppies, Platys, Swordtails, Neon Tetras, Mollies. You could also get a Otocinclus Catfish. They only get 2 inches and they clean the side of your tank like a plecostomus does. Don't get plecostomuses or pacus. I have a 18 inch plecostomus that is highly aggressive and 9 years old. Don't get pacus they get 3 feet long or larger. I have a 12 inch long pacu and he is growing quickly. You can buy these fish at walmart. They don't tell you the correct lenghts they get. I hope this was a little bit of help to you. :D
Don't think I am new to the fish world just because it says newbie. I have 3 55 gallons, 1 29 gallon, 2 10 gallons, and 1 15 gallon.

Before you decide what fish you are going to get, what type of water do you have?
Hard/soft? pH? :)
Though most fish can easily adapt, it's always best to buy what suits your water. This way you have far less chance of disease :good:.
