Hello All

Right my tank has been up and running for 2 1/2 months now and i have only got 2 fish left 1 Rosy Barb and 1 platy.

My water stats are
PH 7.6
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5.0
Tap Water PH 7.0

What sort of fish should i get with these water stats.

I was going to get a few spotted mollys and a few more platys

A picture of my lovely tank is attached :D

Those stats are great for most tropical fish. I would definately get more platies for your single guy. :D

Not sure about the rosy barb; I know they like to be in groups, but I'm not sure how aggressive they are. How big is the tank?

The tank is 125 litres

i was thinking of taking the rosy barb back to the shop and get some mollys and platys instead.

Can you recommend and other peaceful fish that would get on?

Oh, okay, taking the rosy barb to the shop sounds good and you're tank is about 33 US gallons. Plus there's a huge selection of fish that could go with your platies: tetras, danios, cories, a pair of smaller gouramis, smaller plecos (like a cute bristlenose - I love mine). Just take a look at what's at your LFSs and do some research. Research fills in the gap of time between adding fish, since you should add fish to your tank slowly over time.

Thanks wendywc :)

How many fish should i put in my tank at any one time?

wendy's right...i know its very tempting to fil up your tank straight away..but if you do those almost perfect stat's will go out the window!! :) i love tetras! emporer tetras are one of my all time fave's!

im jealous though...you get to choose a whole new tank full

i dont think you can give a safe time limit for stocking...just add a couple at a time and monitor your ammonia and nitrate because adding too mush at once will sky rocket your level's...put the fish in and monitor the levels for a coupla weeks(better safe than sorry) then same again...but remember to stay within your stocking levels!

Good luck

Danny

Thanks Danny :)

So how many fish can i get at any one time?

since its already set up...like i said add a couple at a time..monitor you nitrate and ammonia for a week.if its fine same again.its better to go slowly and be patient than rish your new fish dying :/
