Sorry if this is a stupid question but I can't remember what type of fish this is? The man in the LFS did tell me but it's totally slipped my mind. Can anyone help?

Well, it's definitely a tetra. I'm thinking it's just a yellow tetra. Here's some info http://animalswecare.com/Pets/Fishes/yellow_tetra_fish.php

Also, I noticed from the pic that you've got some great plants in your tank :) One of them looks like it's not an aquatic plant, though regularly sold as one. It's the green and white stripey one in the bottom right corner of the pic. Just for a heads up, it will probably break down and could cause some ammonia.  All the other plants look great though, nice job!!

Thanks a lot! I'll keep an eye on that plant from now on :)

:) Yeah, I don't know why the fish stores always sell them as aquatic. They do it over here in the states too

Best to take it straight out before it causes a problem.

The fishy looks like an X-Ray Tetra to me.

Thanks. I'll get rid of it when I get in from work then. Good to know what type of fish it is. I had a mind-blank there lol

I had the same looking plant. Bought it from PAH. It started breaking down within 3 hrs in my tank. Thanks to mamashack for supplying that link to me also.

I've took it out now. I checked the ammonia and it was 0.50. I don't know if it was the plant or cos I've just added 2 new fish. I've done a 70% water change now though so hopefully it'll be ok

In your instance, I suspect it's the new fish. You need to check levels daily.

Yeah I'll do that. I've got a testing kit so it'll be no problem. Thanks :)
