What Fish Is This?

hi there, i was at my local FS and i saw this cute little fish, i bought him but the lady wasn't too sure what type of fish he is (she was new), she thought it might be some sort of butterfly fish. he is only about 2cm big but heres some photos:

ah now that they did not tell me, i just assumed that because it was with black widow tetras that it was a freshwater not brackish fish. i have been intrigued by brackish set ups and have been meaning to do one. i have had a quick look at there set ups and read that some freshwater fish can be "converted" over to a bracksih set up. i currently have a couple of black widow teras, couple cories, and a pearl gourami could these possibly live in a brackish environment?

I'm not an expert by any means. As far as I'm aware the cories don't like any salt in there water, don't know if its to do with there phsyicalaity ? I'd research each species you have a little further just to be safe.
As for the new guy I did see one in LFS and like yourself found it very tempting, managed to walk away though.....

I have read that bumblebee gobys can be kept in freshwater also,although brackish is preferable -do a google search

Freshwater or low end brackish, usually.

As OohFeeshy says, BBGs aren't actually fussed about whether they're kept in brackish or freshwater. What does matter is food, and most specimens starve to death. They mix poorly with community fish. Only buy them if you're sure you can supply them with live or wet frozen foods. Competition for bottom feeders, such as catfish, can be a killer. They're best kept with surface-swimming things like halfbeaks or else very slow-moving fish such as banjo catfish or kuhli loaches.
