I bought a tank today, 66l, it come with a pleccy and a catfish. I want to get some more but not sure what to get ? I want it to look pretty and interesting to watch, the pleccy just sucks on to the side and deesnt do alot ! its fully cycled as the lady i got it from has had it running for a while. I need to buy new air blocks 2rmw as the ones in there are covered in algae and also do i need a live plant ? thanks in advance

You dont have to have a new plant as you are probably getting enough oxygen from the air pump, although the plec might like to nibble on a real plant. I would say some sort of rainbow fish would be good, especially bosmani rainbows as they are big bright and colourful. Also you could get a pair of kribensis as they colour up really nicely when you have a pair.

How many fish cud I keep ? I know it depends on soze of the fish, but all this cm of fish per litre is confusin me ! Also what about neons ?

Angel fish ? Siamese fighters ?

oh and there's loooads of snails in it to :-/

That was meant to b an unsure face!

Boesemani rainbows (and angel fish) grow far too big to be kept in a 66l tank.

It would be great if you could post pics (you'll need to upload them to a hosting site like Flickr or Photobucket) of the two fish you have, as it might be in the fish's best interests to re-home them (if they're species that grow too large) or get them some company (if they're a social catfish, like a Corydoras or Otocinclus)

The usual guideline is 1 cm of fish for every 2 litres of water, but it only applies to small, slim bodied fish and you have to use the eventual, adult size of the fish in the calculations so as to give them enough room to grow; as we don't know what species you have in there already, we can't say how much space you have left!

Live plants are always better for fish. Many are very easy to grow; Java fern, anubias (those two need to be attatched to a piece of wood or rock), vallisneria, Amazon swords and Cryptocorynes are all good for beginners; if you're wanting to go and buy plants from your LFS, write those names down, and get only those, as many shops sell plants that are really house or bog plants that will die off in your tank (I know, it's naughty of them, but most do it :grr: ).

If you're going to keep the pleco, you should get some driftwood or bogwood for it to munch on. It also makes for a more interesting tank.

Can I email you pics ? Where's the best place to advertise them if I were to sell ?

What kind of pleco is it? The common plecos get very big and will outgrow that tank pretty quick.

I was told just a standard pleco and standard catfish. I email pics !

I'm afraid there's no such thing as a 'standard' catfish!

You need to upload your pics to a hosting site, like Flickr or Photobucket and post the IMG code into your post.

Been to an aquatic place today, they advised me to sell the pleco as will get to big for my tank so going to do that

I'd imagine that the catfish is some kind of cory, but we'd need pictures to confirm.
