I have a ten gallon tank that I want to put a male betta in. I wanted more than that, though. I have vary hard water. What kinds of fish are good in hard water and with bettas?

In a 10 gallon, you might go with a school of around 6 cories in the smaller species. (pygmaeous, hastatus, hasbrous -- all 3 of these cories stay very small)  I have had the best luck with cories and bettas in my personal experience.  I do not recommend any other type of fish just because there is more bad outcomes than good.  Most fish will be fine in your water as long as you give them time to get used to it slowly over a good time period.

Thanks oh and I was wonderiing if my friends betta is stressed she left it in a bowl for two days and it turned from blue to a light aqua! I think she should put it back in it's bowl. ( It should be in a tank, but she only has a bowl)

It really needs something better than a bowl. Being in the bowl in unheated water is what is stressing it.  I recommend a rubbermaid/steralite tote/tub of at least 2.5 gallons and a heater -- should run around $20(or less) for both items at Walmart.  Also anything the fish is kept in that is not filtered/cycled will need 100% water changes every couple of days to keep from having the fish get sick from ammonia poisoning.

That's what I told her I thought so I'll tell her to move it in her old ten gallon then

I am the one who cleans out the bowl usally, because she is busy. I never have enough time to clean it out though.

oh and can pygmy corydoras tolerate like 45 H

for hardness
