Hi

Im currently have quite a few bristlenose babies in my 60 litre elite tank, I only have babies in there btw. And the internal filter is very pants, I have no idea what make it is, but I know i need something more substantial so was thinking about an external filter.

I have no idea what to go for, can anyone help?

I have just been looking into this for a similar small setup,

I settled on getting a Eheim BioPower internal filter, a really nice simple setup, a bit pricey but it is an Eheim so reliability shouldn't be an issue.
It also has a built in air diffuser, so you don't have to bother with an air pump and stone.

The new Fluval U series also look pretty good, a bit cheaper and has multiple outputs allowing a range of flow options, this is the one i would have got if i didn't find the new Eheim one.

The Eheim is alot better for using custom filter media, unlike the Fluval which requires replacement cartridges which tend to end up costing a lot more to run over time.

Plecc.

I'd suggest the Clearseal 700lph filter - I got mine on ebay for a tenner, very good and a lot of filteration.

Sorry to jump on this thread Ellie, but I have just come on to ask the exact same thing!
I've just bought an aqua one horizon 60. The HOB filter it comes with is apparently pants. The one I got has another internal canister filter, but I'd like an external.
I already have a tetratec ex600 which I was going to use on a nano planted 27l. I've gone off the idea and am now selling that tank, as well as the filter.
I'm not intending on having any live plants in the horizon, so would the tetratec be too much?
Can you slow the flow on it?
Current stocking thoughts are endlers, cories of some sort, gertrude's blue eyes and honey gouramis.

will be fine for that tank

Thanks jonesy :good: So you can turn the flow down then? Whereabouts and I'll go have a look at mine.

same as what raptorrex said it sounds alot but when its full of media(filter floss etc) it reduces the flow so leave it as it is, my planted 50 liter has an ex600 and a hydor korolia nano which is 900lph on its own and my tank is fine :good:

Cool, I've taken it down from sale, thanks guys :)
