OK now Im worried, though mine is pretty new, no problems with it channelling or leaking .......Yet! Before warrantly gives out, I shall look into buying a new external, just to be on the safe side, but which time Im hoping for a 6ft tank anyway so the fluval will be useless to me.

if money is tight then i would go for two of these
They are internals, but they are good quality, and are cheap, (there is a larger sized model but is not currently on ebay)
I would also go for a 150W heater
