Hello people, Been doing some research on what fish to put in my 60Litre community tank. The initial list of fish I think would get along fine are;
Kuhli Loach
African Dwarf Frog
Neon Tetra
Tiger Barb
Harlequin Rasbora
Endler
Porthole Catfish

Does anyone think I will encounter any problems with this set up? Please note I am going to slowly build up this set up after cycling my tank, I want to introduce some hardier fish into it first so which of the above do you think I should start out with??

Cheers
Dan

did you plan on keeping groups of neons, tiger barbs and harlequins, or only one of each?

tiger barbs might nip the endlers.

porthole catfish (Dianema sp?) might be a bit big for the other fish and although it is unlikely to eat them, it could stress them a bit at night time when it moves around.

thats a nice list, i reccomend you forget the tiger barbs as they are pretty nippy, i suggest:

4 endlers- male only
6 neons
3 khuli loaches

get started with that and see if you have any problems

Tiger barbs need bigger tanks too. Nothing less than a 15 gal.

I heard that about tiger barbs, but it was suggested that if in groups of more than 4, then they tend to just nip and chase each other and only really annoy other species if found in smaller shoals. I was planing on buying 5 tiger barbs, 2 kuhli loaches and 6 neon tetras as an initial buy (not at the same time though), then adding other species once established.

I was a bit unsure about the prthole catfish for that exact reason, so maybe will opt not to get one.

Does anybody know if Guppies would fit well into this, and can I trust my LFS Im getting males, as I dont want to end up with a tank full

The tanks to small for tigar barbs and also they will nip the fins of the guppies.
I would think of maybe changing the neons to cardinals as there alot hardier than the neons, and nicer to look at in my opinion.
Very limited to what you can keep in a 60 litre.
Why not mix lamb chop rasbora's with the harlequins.

I would stay with Endlers livebearers and not mix guppies with them. Alternatively if you want guppies, then keep them but don't get any Endlers.
Guppies are easy to sex and most shops keep separate male and female tanks.

Make sure the guppy don't look thin and try and check out when they go to the toilet.
Bought guppys and they have internal parasites.
I agree with colin endlers are better than guppys as there more hardier, and you can breed endlers with guppys.

I def wouldn't get tiger barbs for that tank.
We started off with 6 little ones in a 125gal tank and they still nipped at the other fish. They would actually follow and chase the killifish in the tank. They're still pretty small so no real damage.
We then got 6 albino tigers and I haven't seen any more nipping since... so yeah... I really wouldn't get tiger barbs. They look great, but are VERY nippy fish.

Would bump up the number of kuhli's to at least 3.

Ok maybe wont go for the tiger barbs, is there any more friendly barbs that I could go for?

Bear in mind that the ADFs may need hand-feeding as they are very slow eaters.

I set up my first tank (a 60l) it's it's just going to have ADFs (got 6 atm) then maybe shrimp or snails.

OK cheers for the input, think I have re assessed and come up with another list,

Kuhli Loach x 3
Cardinal Tetra x 6
Endler x 3
African Dwarf Frog x 3
Glowlight Raspora x 4

And I was thinking, this seems to be quite a non aggressive tank so how would a couple of angel fish fit in??
