What Do Your Blue Rams Eat?

I have a pair of blue rams with 6 cooper rasboras. I'm concerned that the blue rams aren't getting enough food since their bellys aren't rounded like the rasboras are. I feed them a combination of foating food, sinking pellets/wafers and frozen food.

For those that have a similar mix, what do you feed them?

Quite simply, flake food...

They readily accept that & sometimes peck away @ the spirilina disk Ive dropped in for my bristlenose

My rams behavior don't send them to the top to go after the flake food.

mine really like frozen daphnia and frozen brine shrimp.i also feed them tropical granules because the brand i buy has one on the bottle so it made sense to me.

mine have a tendancy to stick to the bottom as well. I feed them flake, sinking pellets for the most part. If your having trouble getting them to eat i was recommended using this stuff called garlic guard, its for getting fish to eat medicated foods eveidentally they love garlic but just coat your normal food in it and throw it in. then just gradually ween them off of the garlic guard and they should be used to eating it as it looks the same.

Mine have learnt to come to the surface as soon as they see me approach the tank. They make quite a noise chomping on the food as they get it from the surface. When I first got them, they didnt notice the food until it floated down, but they soon learned to come find it.

They readily accept flake food, daphnia, brine shrimp and blood worm.

My rams also come to the top as soon as I walk into the room - they are smart and will soon learn! However until they catch on fill an egg cup with a little of the tank water, add your flake food, swish it round then pour into the tank and you will find the flake will sink immedatley!

My rams enjoy frozen daphnia, blood worm and shrimp brine. I dethaw these for 10 mins and then feed a bit at a time with a spoon - that way everyone in the tank gets some and you dont get the watery gunk in the tank as you do if you just drop the cube in. they also enjoy flake food, algae wafers, hard boiled egg yolk, prawn cooked or raw (dethaw and make sure you break it into teeny pieces enough so they can swallow it), minced beef (again miniscule pieces) and the odd bit of banana!! Infact you think of it they will give it a go

Mine too! They are the biggest pigs in the group!!! I feed mine fish flake, brine shrimp, and bloodworms. They seem to like the variety.

Rams are closely related to "eartheaters" which is why they stay at the bottom. Rams prefer sinking pellets and they need meaty foods in their diet. Mine love forzen bloodworms and brine shrimp. I'd like to try something new like home prepared foods with egg and garlic, can anyone help?

If they aren't coming up, you could get the food down to them. Scoop up a glass of tankwater, add flake, pour back into the water. Mine are quite happy eating flake, and my flake naturally sinks as I managed to spill a few drops of water into the tank.

They tend to come up to the top-middle and pick it up there, and are usually to be found hoovering around the bottom later-they give me cory's a run for their money in that sense.

You cant feed them exclusively on flake - they need meaty foods and a varied diet like mine above. Frozen livefoods will sink anyway....

I give them bloodworm too, I kind of took it for granted that everyone does.
