my lsf has a 265 gallon oceanic drilled glass 265 gallon tank. they said to make an offer. I asked one of the employees what a good start would be and he said 800. I am thinking 650 dollars then negoiate up from there to a max of 800 dollars.

what do you think a 265 gallon glass (used) tank that has been sitting in their store for a month now should go for as far as price

Well, the general rule of thumb for tanks up to 180gal is somewhere between $1-$1.5 per gallon for a USED tank. As the tank size increases, that rule of thumb increases as well. If its just a tank-only, drilled, no stand, no overflow boxes, etc, I'd probably start at $450 for an offer, especially if they want to get rid of it.

I'd agree with what ski said, plus there can't be too many folks in the market for a tank that size.

Bid low and leave it with them for a week - that space could be earning them money so I bet they're as keen to get rid as you might be to buy.
