So. I'm at a predicament for my ten gallon. Now, I still have to buy the test kits - I have PH - which, at the moment, I almost have enough money for. But I still can't decide what to put in it! My main ideas were corydoras or platies. Do you have another suggestion? My PH is around 7.4.

just a few different suggestions to give you something to choose from:

endlers

heterandria formosa

cherry barbs ( a 1 male-2 females trio)

honey gouramis (d:eek:)

slender rasboras

amano shrimps- can be combined with any of the above

species tank for shelldwellers

species tank for African dwarf frog

Oooh, if I had a spare little tank, I'd love Endlers!

endlers - I would love endlers, all the way, but I don't want pyschotic mating (although a few would be nice) and I can't seem to find the right amount online.

heterandria formosa - Seems too hard to find. :/

cherry barbs ( a 1 male-2 females trio) - Those are really pretty! I'll look around.

honey gouramis (d:eek:) - Perhaps.

slender rasboras - Ehh...

amano shrimps- can be combined with any of the above
Maybe. :p

species tank for shelldwellers - That sounds interesting, but aren't shelldwellers hard to find??

species tank for African dwarf frog - Frogs don't interest me. :)

I'm so debatable on cories, but if you have cleanup then there would be no room for other fish = no cleanup, not so fun. :( But if I got over that the option would definately be on the list!

FINAL CHOICES:

Platies -
Pros: Bright and colorful, easy to breed - even though I wouldn't make an effort for the fry to survive.
Con: Tend to be inbred and weak.

Corydoras:
Pros: Cute shoaling, small fish.
Cons: They're catfish, and thus clean the bottom of the tank, but if there weren't any other fish they wouldn't have any waste to clean. Being burrowers I would also have to switch so sand which is 20 per 20 lbs. :X

Small Shelldwellers:
Pros: Shy, reclusive but interesting fish.
Cons: IMO, hard to find.

Cherry Barbs -
Pros - Bright, really cute.
Cons - Ehm.. hard to find? :/

Endler's Livebearers -
Pros: Bright, prolific breeders.
Cons: Not available in hometown, would have to order on line and Aquabid sells male + female which could pose a problem?

YOU PICK. :hyper:

Cherry barbs or Endlers. :) Cherry barbs are actually sometimes easy to breed, though not as prolific as Endlers.

Just thought I'd add that I put 5 cherry barbs in my tank with my endlers and amano shrimps. Next day 5 of my male endlers had disappeared and all shrimps were dead. I took the cherry barbs back to my lfs and swapped for 2 dwarf gouramis and got some more shrimps. My remaining endlers are still ok and new shrimps doing fine so i can only surmise that the cherry barbs saw off my endlers and shrimps. May have been a 'oneoff' but I wouldn't put cherry barbs in with endlers or shrimps again just in case.
