well im saving money to upgrade most of my tanks. the main tropical tankss will be this: 29 gal #1: 1 angel, 7 neons, 1 male and 1 female german blue rams, 5 corries(albinos and maybe some other type(S)) and 3 ottos. 29 gal #2: 1 rainbow shark, 1 blue 3-spot gourami, 7 tiger barbs(5 normal, 1 green, 1 albino) 1 gold 3-spot gourami and 1 bamboo shrimp. 10 gal: 3 male and 6 female guppies.

does that stocking sound good? if not what would you change?

im also going to change my 10 gal coldwater to a 29 gal or larger, get new tanks and decore for my betas(what they have is starting to look old and kinda funky), and a lager tank for my dwarf puffers. i also need to decide to keep or get rid of my yellow lab..........................

the Angelfish will eat those neons.
the tigers are a bit nippy and may go after any long finned fish.
the ten sounds fine.

the tiger barbs would be fine in that particular set up.

I'll list all *possible* issues:

29 gal #1: 1 angel, 7 neons, 1 male and 1 female german blue rams, 5 corries(albinos and maybe some other type(S)) and 3 ottos. - Angel will eat neons (as mentioned). Solitary angels tend to become aggressive/terrors once sexualy mature but this is not guaranteed to happen. the rams, once they breed, will bully the cories though careful decor should prevent serious issues arising.

29 gal #2: 1 rainbow shark, 1 blue 3-spot gourami, 7 tiger barbs(5 normal, 1 green, 1 albino) 1 gold 3-spot gourami and 1 bamboo shrimp. - What sexes are those gouramies? Three-spots are one of the more aggressive species. If you have two males, seperate them ASAP. Of you have a pair, watch closely + add mroe plants/ornaments - you may need to seperate them later. If you have 2 females and they are the same size, you are in luck - they'll hopefuly get along relatively well. If they are different sizes - watch closely.

10 gal: 3 male and 6 female guppies. - This is fine but watch you don't end up over-stocked with fry!

thanks. i never knew that angels could be like that when older. i know they eat neons but i was told and read that if you raise small ones(my angel is a bit bigger than quarter sized now) with neons then they are less likely to eat them when they are large enough to. oh and for this tank i was planning on heavily planted and lots of drift wood so there should be plenty of places for the corries to hides......some flat rocks too for the rams to lay eggs on if/when they breed.

the blue gourami which is the one i have now is female. the females are the ones with the rounded dorsal fin right? i will definetly get a femal when i get the gold one.

i was planing on just enough plants for the 10 gal to make it look nice and the fish to feel comfertable but still limit the amount of places the fry can hide. if/when i get over stocked there is a good lfs i go to regularly that will be glad to take some of them of my hands.

oh and btw i dont have all these fish yet of course, just what im planning on haveing once i get the tanks upgraded. look at my profile if you are interested in what fish i have now.

I've always used 30 gallons as the minimum tank size for tiger barbs because they are extremely active fish. The reason one gallon makes such a difference is because the difference in the length is six inches. Basically a 3 foot tank versuse a 30" tank.
