Hi! I just wanted to get some opinions on my planned stocking for my tank in the coming month. So first off i'll give you some details!

The Tank.

Its a 130L tank (aqua one 620T), it has the built in over the top filtration which has been fully fishless cycled. I'm planning on also adding a fluval U3 cannister filter too, this will give me twice the amount of filtration required. There is currently several plastic plants, but these will be replaced with real ones next weekend. I will also add some pretty hidy holes, as currently i'm using a couple of upturned cups supported on one side to allow fishes in. I'm also currently soaking a large piece of bogwood, and will put it in one the tannins stop coming out, its been soaking for a month so far!! :/

The Water.

I live in a hard water area (Bristol BS5), which tests as 7.5PH. No ammonia or nitrite, but nitrates is currently at 40PPM, (will be doing daily 10 - 20% water changes till it comes down).

Current stock.

Male guppies x 4
Panda corys x 6
And some unwanted snails which came on some live plants, (the plants later died).

The wish list.

Galaxy rasbora x 10 - 12
Bristlenose pleco x 1
Dwarf Gourami x 3 (1 male, 2 female)

I've also seen a couple of frogs that I may consider putting in at a later date. Dwarf afican frogs, (not the clawed ones).

What are peoples thoughts on this?

All your fish look fine, but I would advise against frogs in a community tank. They have very poor eyesight and are easily out competed for food by fish. You might get away with it if you target feed them but they really do better in a species only set up.

Just a note on frogs....

We started off with 3 in a 64 litre tank with 5 platys, the platys have now been moved and the tank is species only with 9 frogs......they are that hard to feed when in with fish. They are slow, nearly blind and only find food by smell so by the time they know it's in front if then the fish have stolen it. It was taking my wife almost an hour to feed the 3 frogs by moving food in front of them and trying to keep the fish away. Add into the mix 6 bottom dwellers (corys) and a plec and the frogs won't stand a chance :(

Thank you for the advice on the frogs, i'll stay away from them then, didn't realise they would be such trouble, which is a shame as they would of added something totally differnt to the tank! I'll go ahead and get the rest of that list then, once i've gotten a load of new plants all settled in! Thanks!

Bear in mind Galaxy Rasbora can be expensive sometimes :shifty:
