What do u suggest? fake or real?

Well here is the two sides,
Live plant: These help to keep the water clear, chemical levels down, look really good in the tank, but are less durable that fake plants (some fish will eat the live plants)

Fake plants: Hard to serilize, more durable than live plants, can add alot of color and varity to tanks, but they do nothing for the tank except for asthetic purposes

Where I live there doesn't seem to be much of a variety of plants at the shops.. so fake then?

I have a mixture, but mainly real ones. For colour I have 3 fake ones but about 8 or so real ones, but they have to be replaced every so often due to some of the tank inhabitants using them as a salad bar. :p

Some fish will really appreciate a nice piece of cucumber or courgette (zucchini), or in fact any greens. Depends what kinda fish you have.
As for the Q about plants - I always think a mixture of fake and real ones work best. The real ones will help absorb nitrates but have the disadvantage of rotting.

I am new to live plants as well and there is not even one place within 80 miles of me to buy real plants. Therefore I bought bulbs. The package says they are guaranteed to grow. They are getting bigger but no greenery yet. I have only just started the bulbs about a week ago. Supposedly up to 15 inches in 3 weeks. I would try it just because they are another addition to you LIVE tank.

On fish eating plants. ALL fish will eat some, and Some fish will eat all...

I like to think of well planted tanks as the last stage of good aquarium husbandry. They will require added attention, but once your fish are happy and healthy, and your tank is fully stocked, the plants add a new dimension to the hobby.

I would go with live plants. When I first started out with my fish tanks, there was not an easy way to get information like the internet now. My plants all died, wrong lighting. Now I have a planted tank a little over 2 years and looks great.
