Hi, havnt really got enough room for my baby guppys so i was going to take them to lfs.
Do they normally give credit notes?

How much is 15 guppys worth ?

I don't know about for livebearers, but for egglayers (like rosy barbs or rams) they would have given me store credit for half of what they charge for the fish. Often, you will get less for livebearers b/c they're more prolific.

you really have to call your lfs and find out. some places, such as the chain stores, won't take fish, usually just the smaller private owned ones do. as far as what you'll get, you'd have to ask them. i know my lfs will give you about a 1/3 their selling price of the fish, unless its livebearers or tetras (they sell the ones from the public for $1 US each, so they give me a few dollars for a large number of them................)

It really depends on the store and the employee. Some stores won't take them in at all. Some will take them but won't give you anything for them. Some (the good ones that are few and far between) will give you store credit. Usually its between 1/3 and 1/2 of what their asking price is.

My lfs has said they will give me 1 plant for every 10 danios i can supply them with.
Another near me has said I can swap them for filter media and such, depending on how many of course.
It really is up to the individual LFS and what they want to do for you.

I imagine guppys wouldn't be worth much at all, considering many LFS buy guppies in the hundreds  but it won't hurt to ring them

I gave my lfs about 50 swordtails......for free. My lfs, however gives me discounts on external filters so I save hundreds(literally)at the end of the day. :D

I had to ask 4 lfs's before I found one that was willing to take guppy fry. They said they would pay me half the price they sell them for. Haven't actually got any big enough yet, they said when they get to neon size bring them in, so not sure if they will give cash or a credit note
