What Do I Need

hey all. im new to all this salty stuff.
ive got a tropical tank, with a standard ( marina overhead light ), a water-heater and a small filter with a foam and carbon insert.

what do i need to buy to start with salt ? i have no idea at all.....so all help is appretiated

im from cardiff, Wales. the tank is 23 us gallons. fish with live rock i think....

how does the salt all work ? do i have to keep stocking up the salt levels etc etc.. ??
