What Do Dragons Look Like Irl?

When I see pictures of dragon bettas on auctions etc, it looks like they have a mouldy growth on them. I presume this isn't the case, just that it doesn't pick up well on camera? Is it metallic or more matt as it appears?

I *think* they have a black outline on their scales. This is my guess, as I haven't actually researched it lol, just what i have seen

Right, so metallic, not mouldy That would explain their appeal!
