What Day Did It Happen For You?

For those with a 20 Gallon tank, on what day did you have your ammonia levels sharply drop? I'm on day 9 and still hanging around 5 ppm.

depends on soo many factors that may be different in your tank

ph, temp, other water chemistry, ammount of natural bacteria you start with, Filter type, Ammount of ammonia added etc etc

Lol..If it helps tho..i have a 25 gal tank and it took 14 days

A lot of people see it stretch out to around 2 weeks before the first ammonia drop, but we've also seen a few cases of it going to 3 weeks. That's been the longest I think, for the first drop to zero of the first dosing of ammonia.

my amonia has cleared realy qwickly i have just started my tank a little while ago and i already have plants hopefully i will get fish soon

i would put frozen live food in there amonia will come and then your nitrite and nitrate

Well I just tested nitrites and it is about 1.5 ppm now, so I am guessing in a day or two.
