What Could I Do?

iv got a 15 gallon bowfront eclips tank that currently houses a bunch of guppies in it that i am getting rid of most of(if not all of) over the next few weeks, and id like to restock it with something different. it does not by any means have to be one of those 100% peaceful fish only sort of tanks either. does anyone have any recomendations for the tank?? a simple outline for a stock list would be great. any help at all is much apreciated thanks.
my main requests for this tank are:

1) for it to contain some sort of gourami that will fit properly in this tank. they do not have to be sparkling gouramis, but if i were to get some then which ones would be the best to get??

2) NO mollies, guppies, neon tetras, or danios please.

3) if it is possible to keep any sort of rainbow fish in this tank also that would be great.

4) lots of color please.

5) i would like for it to be a community tank fo some sort, but a species tank wouldnt be bad.

How about Platys, they can be quite colorful.
You could do some type of small puffer possibly.
Maybe even a marine tank.

I dont think you have enough room for a gourami, maybe one but they need to be kept in groups and sorry to say that i dont think 15 gallons is big enough. You might be able to keep some boesmani rainbowfish, 2 females and one male. i beleive the male will get about 4 inches and the females 3-3.5 inches. If you did get those you are fully stocked then so you couldnt add anything else, even then i dont know if they have enough room to swim comfortably. How about some corys, although they may not have as much color as you want. you could get some swordtails, which come in many varieties and colors. (again i think it is 1 male per 2 females as they tend to get aggressive). I know what i said probably dissapointed you but 15 gallons just isnt enough room for a lot of fish. But there are stilly plenty of options and fish out there that will work perfect! sorry about such a long post.

After readin goldlennys recommendations it seems i was wrong about keeping a dwarf gourami and i apologize. Like i said i am still a newbie and am sorry for the mistake.

ok so iv actually got a choice as to which 15 gallon i can use.... the eclips which has basically the same dimensions as a 10 gallon just taller, or my other one which is 24x12x12. both will have a sand bottom, and the cories will either move to one or the other depending on who gets put where. iv actually been thinking about converting one of my tanks into a marine tank fishkies, but i have to do alot of reaserch before i even think about starting that. poopsy thanks for the recomendation of swords and cories, and by the way i wasnt dissapointed one bit by your responce. goldlenny thanks for the list its very helpful. so now the question is what will go best together looks/temperment wise, and which tank do you recomend i use??

What I would do in your 15 gallons would be one of these:

trio of sparkling gouramis and a large school of pygmy or habrosus corydoras or a school of khuulie loaches

trio of honey gouramis and bottom dwellers as above

school of pseudomugil furcatus (forktail blue-eye) and group of khuulie loaches

harem of peacock gobies and school of pseudomugils

For a community, here's my suggestion...
- a dwarf gourami
- 5 pencilfish or 8 rasboras
- 8 kuhli loaches
- 5 cherry shrimp

For a species tank, I would look into the different killifishes out there.

Go to your LFS, (take a note pad) write down all the species you like, research them see if they will be ok together etc, then buy them.

a female betta tank, you could get 6/7 in there easy, and they come in loads of colours and tail types

i already have a female betta tank that has 10 girls in it. its actually my 15 long, but iv been thinking about moving them around a bit.

The dwarf gourami is listed as being OK in a 10G. No need to apologize. Now a regular gourami gets too big for a 10G tank.
