What Cause'S Fry Death

Ok i have something i need to know...so far ive managed to lose 7 fry in the past 4 days!!! at first i brushed it of as normal but now its becoming a problem....anyway todays fry for the first time ever one had pop eye!!! there only a few months maybe not even that! about 1 cm in size, some about 8 mm....they are t-bar cichlid fry and they are in a tnak on there own, tanks stats are..

ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrAte 5 (assume this is from the water changes)

i do daily 25 percent water changes and only feed them alge type food that sinks.....am i doing something wrong? or is this veyr normal?

make sure to check your filter... put a pair of pantyhose over the part that sucks the water in to reduce the waters speed and so the kids dont get sucked in.

well i did think about this but they dont even go near the filter, the others were random deaths, yesterdays one was by the looks of it swim bladder, but none of it makes sense ive got a feeling it has something to do with a plant i got from pets at home, its a fake plastic one...and teh green coating came of!!! ive removed it but ive never heard nor seen it happen before... hopfully this has not done to much damaged

ive just found anouther dead guy...and one is having a job swimming....all these are much smaller then the others, ive noticed one stays above the filter is only about 5mm in size!! easily the smallest, the others that have died are all half the size of the larges ones, im starting to wonder if it has something to do with this aswell? ive not seen any kind of bullying going down though, who nos, lets hope i dont have any more tomoz
