Hi everyone

Quick question, am prepared to take any advice as have no preconceptions.

I've won a little biorb in a draw, it's the small one, 30l no heater. I can't wait to set it up but I am pretty sure it will be far too small for a goldfish.

What would live in it happily?

Would a siamese fighter need a heater?

Thank you for any advice.

That would be a decent size for a siamese fighter. As for a heater, it depends how warm it is where you live. I live in Wales, so I use a heater to maintain the tank at 28 degrees. Hope this helps

look at betas. these didn't used to have a good rep for tropicals anyway. but it is way to small for any goldfish. bog standard goldies need 100g +, i think, 20 or 30 for each extra fish. fancys need 50g+ 10 or so per extra fish.

Bio Orbs are perfect for Siamese fighters/Betta Splendens! obviously just 1 on its own tho! you could probably keep a few snails in there with him.

Yes you would need a heater, they are pretty cheap for bio orbs around £8.99

as above really.

theres a nice little biorb/ube forum (and also small tanks) once a member you can get discounts on filters and biorb - ube stuff

http://www.biorbforum.co.uk/

iirc its sponsored by charterhouse aquatics

Thank you so much for the help and the useful link to the forum, I'm over there now too!

2 neons would be okay in that size tank but you should really keep them in a larger group, they are schooling fish and tend to fade away when kept alone. Most small tropicals you will find do not appreciate being kept in small groups in small tanks. If you wanted several fish in there I would strongly recommend the ember tetra, if the biorb is well filtered you could have seven or eight of them in there because they are tiny, 3/4 inch full size.
