why did your fish die? was your tank cycled? you have limited choices as far as stocking your tank since it's pretty small. i suppose you can buy a few livebearers, like platies or guppies and maybe a few cory cats. or how would you feel about a betta?
I had one Buenos Aires tetra that ate all the rest. But to be honest, I had 7 fish in a 5 gallon, which was too many. It just seems like I have no options. How many fish could I get? And which ones.
Mollies are too big IMO. They can get quite large - 4inches and the reproduce like crazy. With them you'd be overstocked in no time.
Also, with other livebearers, dont get pairs or pregnant females because your tank will become overstocked with young platys, especially if you can't get rid of them.
Hey there! I would recommend a pair of platies and barbs are really good, maybe three or four cherry barbs, also I was thinking instead a nice pair of fancy guppies. Hope this helps!
5 gallons is hard - using the 1" of fish per 1 gallon of water rule, you'll only get 5" of fish in there. That can be hard to do if you're looking for variety and multiple fish...
a couple of cory cats and some guppys....not much option on the 5 but I think if you get a different colour variety with these two fish then it would look nice....
IMO, in a 5 im gonna put 2 male bettas,BUT you have to put a divider in it, so thats what im gonna do, and put 2 cories, in each, if i can find dwars cories, about 4 in each space......
or! you can put a school of neon tetras... and 2 cories
hhmmm school...how many is that? are bettas and tetras friendly with each other? i know they aren't with guppies because of their tails. but having a betta and 3 skirt tetras would be great, if its not too much and assuming they get along. my plan is for my beta and 2 african dwarf frogs. i really hope i can get away with this in a 5 gallon.
