I had bought 4 african cichlids at walmart when they were on clearance. 3 died. maybe water quality? maybe killed? andyway the consensus was maybe some kind of red zebra/lab/salousi/or mix thereof....

so now that I have only one left... what should I do with it?

1. keep it in a 15/20 gallon tank by itself

2. put something else with it (suggestions?)

3. create an african cichlid tank with my 30 gallon available (again suggestions?)

4. put it in an existing tank with 10 tiger barbs

5. put it in a 55 gallon with my rainbow shark, blue gouramis, 3 angels, and some neon tetra? are they as aggressive when alone?

plz share suggestions... thanks...

I posted a comment on your duplicate thread over in the New Freshwater Tank section.

To be honest, unless you plan on adding more of the same in a decent sized tank then you need to look at rehoming it or taking it to your local lfs for them to rehome. :/

Btw, I now know it is a red zebra b/c I saw a full grown red zebra at someone's house today who happens to breed and that's exactly what I have. I am open to getting more? How many would be appropriate? And what tank size? And can I mix them with any other African cichlids?

For the sake of the fish you should rehome it. Perhaps give it to the breeder friend? It seems like you haven't done your research on fish in general let alone cichlids. I don't mean to be harsh but I feel even if we tell you what you need you don't have the fundamental knowledge to handle a cichlid setup.

agreed , none of your setups you mentioned are suitable really .
