I have this 10l tank that i previously used for keeping some apple snails in. the apple snails have moved out and i am left with the bare tank.

i would love to make its into a hi tech planted tank with maybe just a few shrimp in.

this is where i got the idea from http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=280256 (i hope you dont mind me borrowing your pics Sexyfishkeeper)

my tank is a similar size and i would like something in a similar design obviously not the same though!

i do have a heater although because of the size of the tank i might not use one

so onto my questions:

the tank is just over 10l - 30cmx20cmx20cm

1. what filtration should i use? i dont want to spend over £20 would someting like this be ok, http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/index.php?...roducts_id=2428

2. what lighting should i use? im thinking an arcadia arc pod.

3. co2, i think i will use nutrifin style, ok?

4. whats a good substrate for plants as well as visval impact? i prefer sand

5. fertilizers will probably be tpn+

6. what plants are good. i want a carpeting plant and grass style plants, keeping a minimalistic design

that will do for the moment, here are some pics of the tank.

any help will be much appreciated

im only just getting into live plants, however i can answer

4. i think sand is the most commonly used substrate in aquascaping
6. forf a carpeting plant you could look at a riccia.

btw if you are going to keep shrimp then i reccomend you use the heater, also most plants need warmer water

i have amano shrimp in coldwater

truck, what do you think of that filter? the eden one you showed me cost to much really

1. answered

2. arc pod or any small light around 11 watt

3. easylife easycarbo not yeast c02 - too unstable

4. You can get some good "base layers" like tropica plant substrate and jbl aquabasis and then cap them with sand.

5. Tropica plant nutrition+ is fine

6. You should be able to grow most plants with your setup. Whatever you like really. Grass style plants - eleocharis parvula/acicularis.

i would plant it out, and as fish.com suggested, get an arc pod, easycarbo tpn+, tropica substrate with play sand, and then get some rocks from aqua essentials, and plant however you want, you could grow pretty much any (small) plant in this tank

i cant find any 11w lights. i could have an arc pod but i dont like the colours, i want a white light. any suggestions? i want to spend as little as possible
