hi

my hubby bought me a fish tank off a mate of his and was told that these fish were white mollies but I cant find any information on "White" mollies and the one of them has long tangley bits hanging down about mid body

has anyone any ideas

The other white fish dosent have the lavish creast or the dangly bits so I presume its a female

no the next thing in the left hand side of this picture there are 2 little red and white striped fish there fast and very camera shy.. any ideas

search gonopodium on google and you should be able to sex your males and females. It's quite easy

or on the liveberaers forum here, i think there is a pinned topic about sexing livebearers (mollies are livebearers)

each 1 of the dangly bits is attached individually, I thought at first it was a damaged fin but it dosen't seem to be

They do look like his "dangly bits" but even i know that they are not natural for that type of fish. Poor little fella....

also the tail fin isn't rounded like a normal molly its pointed and it has a sail fin, i've never seen a molly like it the other one has no sailfin does have the pointed tailfin and its the same sive as the 1 eith the dangly bits also she has 2 noduals on the underneath of her belly which makes me think its a female, plus the "male" keeps flaring his sailfin and chasing her around the tank in a very kiss catch kind of manner (would you believe im 26)

Did you get these fish with the fish tank? If so did the guy happen to say anything about that fish with the dangley bits? He must've known it wasn't right.

Well the male molly is not right, I have seen males with fins like this, but not with the bits on the end, these males are sterile.

Your male will harrass your female to death, even though he unble to mate, he does'nt know that, and will spend the hole time trying to mate with her.

The other fish maybe Tiger barbs but the pic is'nt clear anothe.

thanks.... not sure if he is sterile as the other day I think the other one had babies, they were all picked off within minutes so we bought a birthing tank, its a floating thingy...

the others are Alibino tiger barbs.
