Ok i see everyonce in a while where some posts about a fish and they say its an L43 or something like that. I have never heard of this sytem . I am wondering what is it and is there a list somewhere . If some can explain this to me it would be greatly appreciated.

The L number system (and its colleague, the LDA numbers) are a way of identifying plecos before they are assigned a scientific name. It is to show they are believed to be a diffrent species, but are awaiting confirmation of that.

It comes from Loricariidai which is the catfish family that plecos belong to

As mentioned the C numbers are used for cories, and the P number system is used for freshwater stingrays (of the genus Potomotrygon)

to add to the confusion Danios & Devarios are starting to appear with TW numbers.
