I would like to know soon, as I will be going to the lfs tommorow to get some more mbuna. I would like to know what would be good mates from them, as well as for my Ice Blue female. I also have a syno in with them.

The second thing, sence they have established territories already, what is the best way to add more. I dont want to be stuck with just three, but I also dont want to change the decor, or stress them out by removing them from the tank and adding the new ones.

Third, would a pleco be okay in with them?

edit: If better pics are needed ill get some.

Pretty certain they are both Maylandia Lombardoi, 1 male and 1 female. They are agressive, even by Mbuna standards but i have kept them in Mbuna community tanks with few problems. They are OK with many Mbuna but i would avoid some of the more timid species like yellow labs or rustys.

Adding other fish to Mbuna tanks can be tricky. I find adding new fish in groups helps to spread the agression and have had the most success by adding juveniles as they are perceived as less of a threat by the existing fish.

I have a large sailfin Plec in my 55 gal Mbuna tanks and he is fine, they don't mess with him as he gives as good as he gets. I wouldn't go with any smaller plecs though, just commons and sailfins. Most synodontis species are also good compatible bottom feeders.

Hope this helps. :)

oh, I know they are not those. They are a zebra type, I bought them in a zebra tank. They were sold as Ice Blue, but I know they arent them.

Are you sure? they are often mis-sold as zebra's and certainly the yellow one is identical to a male Lombardoi i have.

yeah, ill post better pics tommorow. The flash messes with the colors.

Check out the big pic in this link, i'd swear the yellow 1 at least is a Lombardoi.

that does kinda look like it, but Ill post better pics latter.

I have my camera in mybrothers room as well, so I will have to wait till noon to get it, unless i can find his.

That is two female Maylandia Lombardois. I have had these fish for years and the blue fish is a little younger than the other one.

Maylandia Lombardois=Kenyii?

and they are both the same exact size, wouldnt they both be the same color?

But I will post better pics, as they dont look the same as these pics.

and arent the yellow kenyii males?

I dont want Kenyiis, nooo!!!!

I may be wrong but I dont think I am they yellow ones are females and the ones that are blue are the males. When they hatch they all are a very pretty blue then as they grow the color changes. Which if you will look at the other blue one in the picture you can see where it is turning yellow. I know you have the name right they are called Kenii's

all Lombardoi are blue and black stripes when young. females stay this coulour for life (maybe darkening but thats all)

males turn yellow.

not the other way round :D

I think that I have what is in the link for the blue one. Still hoping the yellow one isnt a kenyii.
