Hiya all,

Are there any benefits, other than oxygen, that an air pump would bring to my aquarium?

Many thanks

Not really, some people think it increases the visual appeal of the tank.
personally i don't.

negatives are the noise of the pump!

much better to direct an outflow of your filter at the surface to increase surface agitation and thus increase oxygenation of the water

Thanks for your reply. Can I also ask if adding more corydoras would help clean up the bottom of my tank. I already have 2 corys and 1 pleck. The pleck just seems to be a poo machine! I have a aqua one 850 160l tank.

Yep. Pleco's are just poop machines, no way around it. Cory's won't eat the poo, and if they out compete the pleco, you've got a dead pleco.

Cories are scavengers, they'll eat left over food off the bottom of the tank but don't expect them to clean it.

My pleco would turn upside down and eat from the top during feeding time as well as eat stuff off the bottom. I don't know if cories would eat from the top.
Some people like the wall of bubbles coming up, some fish like the feel of it as well. My pleco did when it was smaller. How big is your pleco and what kind is it?
