I have a 300L community tank that is lightly planted with java moss, java fern (attached to rock), crypts, thin vals, anubias and amazon swords. The tank lighting is a 40W bulb.

My nitrate levels are a bit high, so in addition to doing more water changes, are there any other plants out there that are hardy and would be suited to my tank?

Some of these may do ok, and help eat up some of your nitrate.

Hygrophila corymbosa ''angustifolia''
Hygrophila difformis
Ludwigia repens
Sagittaria platyphylla
Sagittaria subulata
Vallisneria nana

Theres a few for you.

Your lighting is very low even for the plants you have, they may struggle to survive, have a look at the pinned article on lighting at the top of this section this will give you a better idea as regards your lighting setup.
