Recently my 3 clown loaches have moved into a cave and havent come out, not even to feed?
As far as i'm aware they don't breed in captivity, so what are they up to?

what fish do you have in the tank?
how long has the tank been set up?
how long have you had these loaches? these are fishes that tend to show themselves more around evening time to night time

i wouldnt worry about it mine hide alot too is this cave thing new or have you had any new fish lately that might be bullying them? or is everything just the same as it has been?

they like the dark..? I assume.

Some fish hide out all day, and come out at night. Some like the dark, some don't. Fish like loaches sometimes hide, and comes out to eat when you're gone. My crayfish is scared of humans, so he hides until I leave.

off topic :@ nelly : thats the greatest siggy ever. (The pigeon thing.) :)

My experience with the clown loaches have always been very similar to what you are describing. One of my loaches continually pushed over one of the decorations in the tank that is hollow and hides on the inside. He comes out at night to feed, so that is when i put in the sinking pellets. If i put them in the day the loaches would not see a bit of them. So every morning when the loach is out of his hiding spot i put the decoration (statue) upright and ten min later it is knocked over and he is back in there jamming his little body as far in as he can. He's been doing this for about 6months now.

I haven't had this happen to me...mine hide if i approach the tank to quickly and they hid the first 3 days or so when they were first introduced...if they are new, just give em some time they are probably stressed, which could explain why the wont eat...

Also have to agree: Nelly- That pigeon thing is hilarious!!! lmao

The tank has been set up for about a year, the fish have been in there since day one.
They have only just started staying in this cave, up til about 2 weeks ago they were out and about all the time?

Well, they are still acting strange so tonight I dismantled the cave to check they were still ok.
As soon as I dismantled it they all swam out, darted around the tank and shot straight back into the cave as soon as it was back in place :/
